This housing was fabricated for a military application, it was composed of 0.06″ thick 5052-H32 aluminum, and highlights many of our metal forming capabilities. The customer supplied 2D drawings called for a finished size of 14″ in length, 8″ in width, and 5″ in height, it also called out tolerances of ±0.001″. Initially fabrication required the laser cutting of the raw stock; the aluminum sheet was then formed and welded. Welding was performed to AWS D17.1 Class C standards for welding. After thorough dimensional inspections the housing had a gold Iridite, chromate conversion coating applied, the housing also featured a 32 RMS finish. We currently manufacture 100 of these housings annually.

At Ridge Engineering, we take quality seriously, we’re an ISO 9001:2008 certified shop, this commitment to quality is reflected in everything that we do. To learn more about this project, see the table below or contact us directly.
