The fin field stock shown here was designed for use in a military application to cool electronic components. Composed of 0.032” thick, 6061-T6 aluminum it required several processes to manufacture. The fin components were CNC milled before being dip brazed per AWS C3.7 Class C. Each finished part measured 2.3” in length, 1” in width, 0.5” in height, and met tolerances of ±0.001”. At Ridge Engineering we’re ISO 9001:2008 certified and take quality seriously; all parts are subject to stringent quality control measures.
After fabrication the fin was heat treated per AMS 2770, followed by the application of a chromate conversion coating per MIL-DTL-5541, with a surface roughness of 32 RMS. We currently manufacture 30,000 of these parts per year delivering 3,000 per month. To learn more about this project, see the table below or contact us directly.
